Annual
Member Exhibition (June 12 – July 18, 2009)
This decades old tradition represents the best of the region’s
artists and offers the opportunity to view the creative talents of colleagues
and friends. The artists are limited to one original work of art, completed
in the last twelve months and the medium can be oil, watercolor, graphics,
mixed media, jewelry, sculpture and other applications.
Picturing America 1930-1960: Photographs from The Baltimore Museum of
Art (July 31-October 3, 2009)
The Academy Art Museum will present a major Exhibition of 42 rarely seen
vintage prints by some of the world’s best known 20th century photographers.
The exhibition features iconic works by American artists such as Ansel
Adams, Margaret Bourke-White, Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Edward Weston
and Ralph Eugene Meatyard. Organized thematically, these works showcase
an impressive range and depth while illuminating some of the most important
achievements in the history of the medium.

Inside the Box: Constructions
and assemblages join the permanent collection (opens July 6)
Through the work of May Wilson, Ernie Cox and James von Minor, audiences
in the atrium can explore the wide range of expression seen through the
three-dimensional works by these three Maryland artists.
Taken together, the works not only challenge their viewers with their mystifying
subjects, they also help to erase the boundaries between the different
media in art. Inside the Box
